Chennai Super Kings still alive in the league | CSK VS SRH | IPL 2020 MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

HIGHLIGHTS

  • CSK Beat SRH By 20 Runs.
  • Chennai Super Kings win by 20 runs and keep their IPL 2020 campaign alive as they collect their third victory in eight games.

Kane Williamson and Priyam Garg looked to go big at the death as the asking rate climbed over 12. Garg holed out under pressure and Williamson got out in the 17th.

Rashid Khan, though, isn't ready to give up yet. The Chennai Super Kings spinners have done a fine job of restricting the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) bastmen here. David Warner and Jonny Bairstow gave SRH a steady start as they looked to chase 168. But Warner sent one back to Sam Curran to give Chennai Super Kings (CSK) their first wicket.

Manish Pandey self-destructed and foind himself short of his ground at the non-striker's end as DJ Bravo's throw rattled the stumps. Bairstow and Williamson stayed around for a while before Ravindra Jadeja went through the gate and sent back big Jonny. Earlier, CSK finished 167/6 in their 20 overs.

Only CSK have chased a total in excess of 160 in Dubai this season when they won by 10 wickets against Kings XI Punjab, and SunRisers Hyderabad will have to do something similar tonight.

SRH captain David Warner: Obviously the wicket was on the slower side. We tried to take it deep. We built a partnership Jonny and Kane, but you can’t’ win all games. One side of the boundary is bigger, so you have got to rely on power to clear the boundary. 160 was the right score to go after.

Anything more than that would have been difficult. They 6-7 bowlers, such a luxury. You have to take risks in the powerplay, that even means you can lose some wickets. But we just have to move over and forget about this loss. There are pros and cons to everything.

Preview: Chennai Super Kings take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 29th match of the Indian Premier League in Sharjah.

Played seven, lost five, won two. Generally, you don't expect these kinds of numbers from Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. But this is where they stand right now in this season, second from the bottom with four points. With half the matches played, CSK are in a position of desperation.

They somehow need that spark for revival. They have lost their last two matches. They again failed in a run chase against RCB in the last match. Their batting unit has to step up big time. Their batting approach has also come under criticism. They seem to be playing a tad too cautiously. Fearless cricket is the need of the hour and coach Stephen Fleming also emphasised on that aspect after the loss against RCB and said that there needs to be more intent while batting.

"We are looking for ways to compete and change the style of play, given we have been so consistent with our selections. We are certainly scrapping...trying to find a way, it is a bit foreign and the results are showing," Fleming said.

"The other point is we've chased every game and the wickets are getting slower. It's not easy, once you lose wickets... But I'd love to see more intent. It's not that you can just keep swinging. There is some challenging bowling but intent is what we're after," the former New Zealand captain added.

MS Dhoni has struggled to achieve any sort of fluency, and he would be desperately looking to get back to his best against SRH.
